Conversations with Sri Swamiji and Devotees Experiences
The Lahari is a booklet prepared by London devotees and published in Bangalore with the help of Prof. P. N. Murthy. It was presented to the public on the occasion of Shivabalayogi’s fifty-fourth birthday, on January 24 of 1989.
It contains conversations with Shri Swamiji and devotees’ experiences, mostly collected in England during Shivabalayogi’s visits in 1987 and 1988.
When Shivabalayogi arrived in Seattle in summer of 1989, there was an informal reception for him, the type of gathering where he would answer devotees’ questions. On this occasion, he cut off questions and instead made a devotee read out loud from this booklet. He simply sat and smiled. It was as if he was demonstrating that the written words could answer questions, and perhaps have the same impact as the spoken.
Shivabalayogi arrives in Seattle, June of 1989.
This was the occasion when, instead of answering questions
as was his usual practice on such informal occasions,
he had The Lahari read out loud.
Material in The Lahari has been incorporated in the books Tapas Shakti, Divine Play, and Swamiji’s Treasure.
