Bangalore devotees, in procession with Swamiji's picture, approach the
Adivarapupeta ashram.
For some years, devotees in Adivarapupeta have organized the sannai melam
— the traditional drum and the trumpets to receive Swamiji at the entrance of
the village and take him through the village up to the Samadhi.
In 2008, the kolaatam — a song and dance troupe of young local girls,
wielding sticks and playing the rhythm with them — was a wonderful addition to
the welcome procession. This year's
Mahashivarathri invitation card has a photo
of that kolaatam, and this photo is from this year, 2009.
