Arrival in Adivarapupeta.
Every year, when devotees from Bangalore visit Adivarapupeta for the
Mahashivaratri, they get out of their vehicles in front of a small shrine to
Devi (the Divine Mother) at one end of the village where they offer puja
(worship). Then they proceed on foot, taking Swamiji's picture in a
procession, singing bhajans. As Swamiji's picture passes houses, residents
come out and offer puja to Swamiji in that form, welcoming him to Adivarapupeta.
The procession and bhajans continue to the shrine to Ganesha at the other end of
the village.
The devotees then walk back to the turn on the road that leads to the ashram and
proceed to the Samadhi, the tomb where Shivabalayogi's body is buried.
At the samadhi, devotees staying at the ashram offer puja to Swamiji's picture
and then they all enter the Samadhi.
It is only after this welcome ceremony that the Bangalore devotees take care of
their bags, luggage, rooms, etc.
