The Dhyana Mandir (Meditation Temple) built to protect Shivabalayogi.  Photo probably taken not long after he completed tapas in 1961.

Shivabalayogi can be seen sitting inside the gopuram (dome).

When giving public darshan, people would ascend the outer staircase (in this photo, on the right of the building), pass by his seat (asana), then descend the inner staircase (also on the right side).

The meditation room itself, on the ground floor, measured twelve foot square and was completed in October of 1950, some fifteen months after Shivabalayogi began tapas.

The gopuram was added at the suggestion of Tapaswiji Maharaj (see next picture).  It serves to draw heat from the ground floor, making the meditation room a little more bearable in the intense tropical heat.
